Traffic, Optimization & Improving Conversion

Useability, SEO, Analysis and Testing

A beautiful design and a perfectly working website is just step 1 of your online experience. Once your online presence is established, you need a way to bring visitors to your site because without visitors, you have no sales.

But you can have tons of visitors and still have no sales.

So, a profitable website needs to be successful with two elements: traffic and conversion.

Traffic

What is SEO and Why Should I Use It?

SEO stands for search engine optimization, which basically means to improve your website's visibility through organic (aka natural) or un-paid search results. A user types a search phrase into google and clicks search and you want to show up as near to the top of the front page as possible.

There are lots of ways to bring visitors to your site, but we prefer search engine optimization because the traffic is free, at least to a point. You're not paying for advertisements or pay-per-click with search engine optimization, but you do have to factor in the cost of your time (time is money after all).

Conversion

Useability and the K.I.S.S Principle

Once you have visitors, in order to be profitable you need them to buy. The best websites are simple for visitors to use and to navigate. Forms should have as few fields as possible. Visitors should know intuitively where you want them to go. Try to look at your website with a fresh eye from time to time and remember the K.I.S.S. principle.

Analysis

Google has fantastic tools for both analysis and conversion, and we also use clicktale to help with visitor analysis. Installing google analytics onto your website is a must because it tracks each visitor for you.

Testing

We use google website optimizer to set up split testing.
